| What is Motor Praxiology? |
According to
Cognitive Science, experiences form the basis of learning. Consequently, situational design that encourages experience is the driving force behind the teaching of any activity, including training in values, behaviour and attitude.
Motor Praxiology is the science that studies the motor actions and behaviour of participants in specific scenarios or situations. It was originally developed in France more than 30 years ago by
Dr. Pierre Parlebas, Professor Emeritus at the Sorbonne in Paris.
The knowledge it provides helps the deliberate design and objective analysis of activities and situations that provide specific experiences for participants. Practice or performance in these environments leads to specific experiences that are ideal for the active learning of behaviour, values and skills.
In the area of
Experiential Engineering, when the situations have been previously certified, these become validated experiences or
PraxiGames®. Validation is important because it's vital in order to ensure and justify, with scientific rigour, that the activity is appropriate for the desired objective in pedagogical or educational terms.
